Barista Connect is hitting the road. For the first time ever, the organization “dedicated to improving equality by empowering and inspiring women in various roles within the international coffee community” founded by three-time national Barista Champion—two with Denmark and one with Austria—Sonja Zweidick (read our interview with Zweidick here) is hosting an event outside Europe. This time, Barista Connect is going Down Under to coincide with the Melbourne Coffee Week.
Taking place March 19th and 20th, Barista Connect will be continuing its mission to “highlight female role models in the [coffee] industry” with “a mix of coffee related presentations by leading local and international coffee professionals, shared personal journeys, hands on workshops and cuppings with a twist.” Speakers for Barista Connect Melbourne include:
Michelle Johnson, Communications Lead at Barista Hustle and blogger at The Chocolate Barista,
Elika Rowell, Head Roaster and Co-Owner at Square One Coffee Roasters
Charlotte Malaval, Green Buyer at Toby’s Estate and two-time World Barista Championship finalist
Lucy Ward, Green Buyer and Quality Assurance at ST. ALi
Meira Harel, Head Sommelier and Wine Director at King and Godfrey
Jenni Bryant (GM) and Milla Vainikainen (HR) at Market Lane
Jets Anita Langlands, Marketing Manager at La Marzocco Australia
Mikaela Gervard, HR-coordinator at The Coffee Collective, World Brewers Cup finalist
Tickets for the two-day event are $187 AUD and can be purchased here. Total attendance has been capped at 40, so reserve your spot now. For more information on Barista Connect or the Melbourne event, visit their official website and Facebook event page.
